Education and Background
Many are surprised to find out that I'm an Atlanta, GA native- which appears to be a rare find these days. I completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology at Georgia State University and finished my Graduate studies at Clark Atlanta University with a focus in Clinical Social Work. I am currently licensed in the states of Georgia and South Carolina in which I provide Telehealth/Video Therapy exclusively.
Over the past 10 years I have worked in a range of settings, providing mental health and support services to people dealing with a host of concerns. This includes but is not limited to: working in the field of hospice where I provided support to individuals and their families dealing with end of life transitions and issues of Grief and Loss; Partnering with the Department of Human Services- working with children and families and also the Aging and Adult populations.
My Approach To Therapy
My approach to therapy is being down to earth and not too clinical and over the years I have been told that this is what clients enjoy the most about working with me. As clinicians we are trained in traditional approaches to counseling that can seem rigid and can make clients feel like they’re being judged and analyzed. I’ve come to learn that clients prefer a person that is “REAL”, someone they can relate to and who is not afraid to share their own struggles and experiences with them- That is the approach that I bring!
My clinical specializations and training include treating Depression/Anxiety, Struggles with Grief and Loss, Life Transitions, Family/Relationship issues and providing Affirming therapy services to members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am confident that my experience and training has equipped me with the tools, knowledge, and understanding needed to address your concerns.
